Doctor X (1932) is a First NationalWarner Bros. horror and mystery film. Based on the play originally titled The Terror (New York, February 9, 1931) by Howard W. Comstock and Allen C. Miller,[1] it was directed by Michael Curtiz and stars Lee Tracy, Fay Wray, and Lionel Atwill. The film was produced before the Motion Picture Production Code was enforced. Themes such as murder, rape, cannibalism and prostitution are interwoven into the story. The film was one of the last films made, along with Warners' Mystery of the Wax Museum (1933), in the two-color Technicolor process. The Haunted Forest stars Grayson Gwaze as Zach, a high school senior who lands his first job was a scare actor at Markoff's Haunted Forest. He makes friends with the band of misfits who operate the Halloween attraction, but after one of them dies tragically on the grounds he begins to question his fascination with death and the macabre.
The plot revolves around Lincoln Raider, who is suspected of murdering six young women in a small town. He earned the moniker “The Huntsman” for allegedly leaving the victims’ hearts in decorative boxes alongside poisoned apples. With only one body recovered so far, suspicion weighs heavily on Lincoln. Max Mason, an ICU nurse, volunteers to read to Lincoln while the latter remains in a coma. As the narrative progresses, Max becomes Lincoln’s live-in caregiver upon his awakening despite the objections of the nurse’s sister Darby Albright, the lead detective of the case. But Max may have an ulterior motive for moving in with Lincoln and his beautiful wife Jolene, an accomplished sculptor and mother to their new baby girl Rosy, a motive that may lead to the most shocking revelations yet.
